About Me

My Story

Hi, I’m Brandy — the soul behind Tangled Roots.

My story starts with roots that were anything but traditional. I was born to very young parents who worked hard but didn’t always have the resources or knowledge to make life simple. My mom was only 13 when she had me — something I didn’t think much about as a child, but the world around us certainly did. Growing up, I often felt like the nerdy, tall, awkward kid who got teased more than celebrated.

Life at home wasn’t always easy either. Like many families, we carried cycles and struggles that weren’t fun to live through, but they gave me one gift I’ll never forget: the drive to create a different kind of life for myself and my kids. That little spark of wanting more has guided me through every season since.

At 19, I found myself a young mom, lost and unprepared. Honestly, if it weren’t for the people who took me in and showed me a different perspective — including my former in-laws, who gave me stability when I needed it most — my path might have looked very different. In many ways, I grew up alongside my kids. It’s bittersweet, but it shaped me into the person I am today.

Green Adventure

We all carry roots — stories, struggles, and histories that make us who we are. Instead of running from them, what if we used them to grow stronger, braver, and more ourselves? Tangled Roots is about that journey: finding love, laughter, and identity in the midst of motherhood, partnership, and self-discovery

Now at 34, I’m a wife, mom to three amazing kids (15, 12, and 7), and stepmom to a wonderful 10-year-old girl. I’ve earned two degrees in hospitality, built a career as a Director of Sales, and checked off a lot of society’s “success” boxes. But the truth? Success isn’t the same as fulfillment. And that’s what I’m chasing now.

Tangled Roots is my place to share that journey — the raw, funny, messy, and beautiful reality of motherhood, marriage, self-discovery, and everything in between. Some days I feel like a hurricane, other days like a volcano, and sometimes both before breakfast. But I also love deeply, want to laugh often, and believe there’s so much strength in telling our stories — even the tangled ones.

So, if you’ve ever felt like you’re doing your best but still searching for yourself… welcome. Grab a cup of coffee (or wine, no judgment), kick off your shoes, and stay a while. I’m so glad you’re here.

Your Story Starts at the Roots

Tangled Roots is about embracing where you come from, no matter how messy or imperfect. Our roots shape us — they’re not something to hide, but the very foundation we can grow from. Here, we celebrate womanhood, motherhood, love, and identity in their rawest, realest forms — because becoming your truest self starts with accepting your roots
